Hello out there,
I’m Axel Rössler, living and working in Frankfurt/Germany. This »Playroutine« website compiles my visual work. My main interest from the mid-90s was initially in the combination of music and images, until I turned more and more to screen printing from around 2008 – a return to the craft, so to speak, from digital to analog – but digital stuff is still involved in my designs. At the moment, it looks as if my artistic output will mainly be handprinted serigraphs. But who knows!
My love for digital design began many years ago: in 1999 I started with animation as one of the founding members of the electronic art & media label saasfee*, a creative collective with whom I continue to be involved. In addition to my freelance work with motion design, 3D, illustration and other projects, I taught interactive/motion design at HfG Offenbach from 2011 to 2014.
Between 2011 and 2018 I curated the Desert Dust Cinema in Lobo/Texas five times and organized it together with Alexander Bardorff – a short film festival for experimental clips in an abandoned, temporarily revived ghost town in the lonely southwest desert near the Mexican border. This festival had a very special relaxed vibe, hopefully unforgettable for all our guests, friends and all of those involved.
From 2014 to 2019 I lived and worked in Tucson/Arizona and founded the screen printing label »Print now – Riot later« together with Ellen Wagner. Together with friends, we run a shop & gallery in the nicest district of central Tucson. After 5 years in the beautiful desert landscape of the southwest I am now back in Frankfurt and work both as a screen printer for »Print now – Riot later« and as a lecturer for screen printing at the University for art and design in Offenbach.
